28th November 2012One to watch: Laal Taste of Solway Seafood Festival at The Waterfront, Whitehaven

In Whitehaven, echoes of the town’s important maritime history are clear - the quayside warehouses, Custom House and the gorgeous architecture of the era. But I’d ask you to look a little closer to discover the ‘seafood revival’ that’s causing a bit of a stir in the area today.

14th November 2012The Gincase, Silloth-on-Solway: Welcome to my new favourite place.

You know what it’s like when you discover a new haunt that you love so much you think “My life would be so much better if this place was at the end of my road.”? The Gincase is one of those places. A cosy, homemade cakey haven in winter, a garden of delights in summer and a treasure trove of crafts and treats to delve into whenever life needs a little colour.

Welcome to my new favourite place.
