22nd March 2013Hidden Treasures in Cockermouth: The Trout Hotel

Every time I arrive in Cockermouth, I get that hidden treasure feeling. What’s round that corner? What nugget of local knowledge will I uncover today? And which eatery to try next?

7th March 2013Meeting people: Jorrit and Nicky of Millican, Keswick

Ever since I first clapped eyes on a Millican bag, I’ve been keen to meet the characters behind this distinctive Lakeland brand. And it’s not just about the beautiful products – rucksacks, luggage and accessories - it’s the feelgood idea that two people were so inspired by one Lakeland lifestyle that they upped London sticks and followed their dream in the Western Lake District. I think Jorrit and Nicky are just as inspiring as their brand’s namesake, so I arranged to ask them some questions and share their story with you.

4th March 2013Something a bit different: Stanley House and The Woolpack Inn, Eskdale

Eskdale is one of our favourite places to visit in the Western Lake District and until last weekend The Woolpack Inn was the only pub we still needed to tick off our list. The Woolpack Inn being fully booked (a common occurrence and I now know why) we were offered a room 10mins down the road at The Woolpack Inn’s sister property, Stanley House.
